Motor vehicle collisions are complex events that can involve single or multiple vehicles. A significant percentage of motor vehicle collisions have been associated with at least one of the colliding vehicles traveling at speeds in excess of posted speed limits.
An accurate determination of the pre-impact speed of a vehicle involved in a collision is often a critical aspect when attributing responsibility for the collision. BME’s motor vehicle collision engineers can access EDR (Event Data Recorded) data using proprietary software. In the absence of such data, more conventional methods are used in speed analysis including theoretical and computer based predictions based on vehicle crush, analysis of skid marks, and other collision factors.
